Searun season

Beginning in April, trout season opens in Nova Scotia. These fish are hungry and spend the next couple of months feeding in the estuaries of our rivers before they re-enter the river in early summer for their seasonal migration. Trout fishing in the spring, summer and fall for these fish can be incredible depending on the conditions. Trout season ends on September 30th and the last few weeks of the season can be the best weeks of the year for big browns!

Searun Brook Trout

Nova Scotia offers some of the best searun brook trout fishing in the world. These fish are native to Nova Scotia and inhabit almost all of the rivers that flow into the northumberland strait as well as the rivers in Cape Breton.

Searun Brown Trout

Searun Brown Trout were introduced to Nova Scotia in the 1800's and have established populations in many rivers, they coexist in the same rivers as the searun brook trout.
