The King of Sportfish

Atlantic Salmon are known as the king of sportfish. known for their acrobatic abilities and their determination to never give up, Atlantic salmon are a prized species to pursue for fly anglers.

The fishery

In Nova Scotia we are very lucky to have a variety of rivers that Atlantic Salmon call home. With many rivers still boasting good returns of salmon, Nova Scotia has plenty of water to spend your day swinging a fly in pursuit of the king of sportfish. Whether it be the rivers along the northumberland strait or Cape Breton.  

Salmon season 

Nova scotia's Atlantic Salmon season opens June 1st and runs until October 31st. Fishing can be good throughout the season depending on conditions. Most of the rivers in Nova Scotia are fall run rivers. Which means the majority of the fish don't begin entering the rivers until September or October depending on water conditions.
